Dinner and a Show

Dinner, Show, Services Auction, Kick-a-thon, purpose.  The purpose of this event is twofold.  First, we want to give our TKD family an opportunity to shine in front of their TKD family in what they do outside of the Dojang.  Second, the proceeds from the event are used to offset the costs incurred by our athletes on their bid to become national champions.

The show was a showcase of the many varied talents of our students.  We encouraged all levels of singing, dancing, magic, acting, juggling, and anything that they have worked hard to perfect outside of the amazing TKD skills which we already get to see regularly. Every year it has been a great joy to see our students bravely stand up in front of their TKD family and share their talents, from the 5th grade band students and our college level performers who receive full ride scholarships for their talents, to a 4 year old art showing and a slice 'em dice 'em infomercial.

Dinner is centered around 40 pounds of Master Rosbarsky's Bulgogi, Korean Bar-B-Q beef, that is loved by all.  There was also many other goodies in the potluck.

The Kick-a-thon performed by the 2012 MTC Junior National Team is always fun to watch where athletes kick for 1 minute to earn pledges to help them get to Dallas for this year's nationals.  The Services Auction was a first this year.  Our teen athletes offered themselves for chores, yard work, baby sitting, private lessons in Taekwondo and maybe some other things as well.  They went to the highest bidder.

There are still ways to help out the athletes by purchasing raffle tickets for the Kona Mahuna bicycle from Missoula Bike Works, concessions, donations...
Thank you for making this years' Dinner and a Show awesome!

Dinner and a Show- A great time for our TKD Fam

Our annual talent show and pot luck will be held on May 4th at MTC.  This is a great family event for all our TKD families.

The Dinner:  The main course is provided by the Rosbarskys--very delicious Bulgogi (Korean Bar-B-Q Beef), so plan your contributions accordingly.

The Show:  This event originated to let our students showcase their many talents (outside of Taekwondo ability) in front of their TKD family.  To showcase a talent, be it music, dancing, acting, juggling or some other fantastic thing, students MUST sign up by May 3rd.  Please plan to keep it to 3 minutes or less as we have an incredibly talented bunch and want to give everyone an opportunity to participate.

Also the National Team will be kicking in the Kick-A-Thon and auctioning their services as slaves (paid with donations of course) to add some more excitement to the evening.  So come with your list of chores in mind and our fantastically fit athletes will help you check them off you list.

It all boils down to a very exciting evening.  Tickets on sale soon!

Dinner and a Show

Every Spring we gather for a very fun evening at MTC.  This year that evening, our Dinner and a Show, will be Friday May 7th.  Dinner and a Show is a combination MTC student talent show, Korean BarBQ and Pot Luck, Kick-a-thon and Silent Auction.

The Talent Show is open to all prepared and signed up in advance MTC students who have a nonTKD talent to share.  So, think about your performance--music, theater, dance, or any other entertaining talent.

The Korean BarBQ will be prepared by the Rosbarsky's and all families in attendance are asked to bring a Pot Luck contribution, so dust off your best recipes.

The Kick-a-thon is a simple fundraiser for athletes going to Nationals and other students who wish to participate.  First, participants gather pledges. Then each person kicks for 1 minute and their total pledges are calculated and collected.

The Silent Auction is assembled by the booster club and the preceeds are used to help offset the cost of attending Nationals ($1500-$1800/person).

Give a little thought to how you would like to participate--Talent, Food, Kicking or an Auction Item/Items.

Dinner and a Show with a Kick

The first ever Missoula Taekwondo Center Dinner and a Show was a great success.

The evening started full of cheering for the Kick-a-thon participants. Thirteen students kicked for 1 minute each. . .as many times as they could. With a little preparation some students made the most of their 1 minute of kicking. Ryan Watson earned over $600. And the person with the most kicks over all, Andy Mikkola, was game when suddenly called to the stage from the audience.

We moved on to a fabulous feast provided by our MTC family and Diamond Bar Meats. Followed by an evening full of great home grown entertainment including singing, dancing, comedic skits and many instrument solos.

It was enriching and heartwarming to witness so many of our family members expressing themselves and entertaining us all in the process. From Austin Clark a fledgling French Horn Player to Viet Le a well practiced Violinist.

The event was held as a fundraiser for all individuals who wished to participate in the kick-a-thon and also for the National and Junior National teams.

Thanks to all who assisted in making this night great fun and a great success. Everyone who volunteered to set up, take down, cook, clean and participate had a part in making this a great end of the year celebration for our TKD family.

We plan to make this an annual event, so be thinking about how you will contribute to this school wide event next year. Better step up your singing in the shower.
