National Events Team

Are there students you admire as great martial artists or just plain awesome people at MTC? Chances are those students have been part of our National Events Team and you can be too.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME! All MTC students have the ability to be part of this team. And we encourage you to join us on November 7th to find out more details.

It would seem that at first glance the 2013 USA Taekwondo National Championships on July 3-9 is a long way off, but we ask for commitments in October every year. The process of preparation and growth is one that will be best had over an 8 month period. In that 8 months all or part of the National Events Team will attend the Pikes Peak Challenge in Denver on January 19th, the US Open in Las Vegas on February 19-23 a state qualifier in March and a regional qualifier in April or May and finally Nationals in June. Any current student may be eligible for these events.

This meeting is for all families interested in the possibility of attending one or all out of state events in the Spring and Summer of 2013.

Please join us at 6:30PM on November 7th.

Most of these events are for ages 6+, yellow belt and up. The only exception is the US Open. The Open is a black belt only international event open to ages 10+.

We will discuss financial and time obligations as well many details associated with preparation for these events.

Last year we took our biggest team yet to nationals. We had 20 athletes from the age of 6 all the way to 40+ with yellow to black belts. This year we will be happy to welcome you to our team.

2013 National Team Forming Now

Aaron Rose and Sam Lehr not pictured
Our 2012 National Team from Missoula Taekwondo Center had a tremendous year of growth as martial artists and people, as well as a loft of fun along the way.

We are forming the 2013 MTC National Team now, with students handing in their hand written commitments already.  You can see the names already appearing on the front white board.

We do not have full details of the 2013 event but it will take place Summer of 2013 possibly in Chicago.  We highly encourage you to consider this as a TKD and life goal.  You will not be sorry you did.  MTC and the MTC Booster Club will fully support you in your quest to attain this and all other positive life and TKD goals.

Our initial informational meeting will be October 3rd.  We will ask for formal commitments (accompanied by commitment fees) by October 17th.

You on the National Team?

We encourage all MTC students to envision themselves as part of the 2012 Missoula Taekwondo Center National Team.

Every year a group of students from MTC travel to the USA Taekwondo Nationals.  You (or your child) have the potential to be part of this team.  The first (and really the only) criteria for being a member of this team is the desire to be and do something great.  Together and individually we will train, fundraise, travel and grow.

OK, inall honesty, you have to do more than just have a desire to share in this experience, you will also then need to put forth the effort to grow physically and mentally, but once you DECIDE the experience will begin to unfold in front of you.  This experience has been life changing for everyone who chose to step in the arena, so to speak.

Being part of this team is realistic for nearly every one of our students.  You can compete at nationals from the age of 6 through 106 and from yellow to black belt.

We are kicking off the season with an informational meeting at 5:30 on November 9th.  Everyone who has a desire to compete or simply a curiosity should attend this meeting .  We will discuss what it takes, in all areas, to have a positive experience on the MTC National Team.

  • The physical preparation needed
  • The roll of the Booster Club (financially an otherwise)
  • Individual and team development aside from just physical
  • Travel to regional and national events
Join us to discover how to reach a new level within your Taekwondo training and your life.  Wednesday November 9th at 5:30pm.

Off to Nationals– A Journey to Their Best Selves

The 2011 National Team from MTC  is on their way to San Jose (heehee) to compete in sparring and poomsae with athletes from all around the US.
Lydia Rosbarsky, Scott Graham, Hunter Goodman, Jeff Quackenbush, Austin Graef, Taiga Gammell, Dylan Ardiana, Claire Zellmer, Abbey Ardiana and Amanda Rosbarsky have been training and preparing since the Fall of 2010 for this event.
It has been a great gift to witness the transformation in their ability, confidence and overall presence.  Working toward the goal of this competition has, of course,  improved their technique but it is the shift in their spirit that is the most awe-some part to observe.
Through this experience each of them will enhance their lives with more than toned muscles and gold , silver and bronze medals, they are truly becoming the best possible humans they can be.

Good Luck Team and Enjoy the Process!
Love and Effort

An Open Invitation to ALL MTC Families

USA Taekwondo Nationals will be held in San Jose, California in July 2011.  USAT Nationals is an event which can have a profound influence on one’s life-if you so choose.  The process of committing to, training for and otherwise preparing for an event like this will influence the direction of your martial art’s and life’s paths.  If you wish to hone your skills in Taekwondo and life being part of this team will jump start you and give you an opportunity to see what potential you truly have buried inside of you.
We are excited to invite ALL students to become part of the MTC National Team.  This means every student who will be at least 6 years old by December 31st, 2011 and a green belt or higher can join the MTC National Team.  No one is excluded from this invitation (except that sadly the youngest division is 6-7 year olds).  This means that age on the other end is not a restriction at all (you can not be too old for this competition).  There are divisions for all belts, weights, sexes, ages and events.
Join us at the Ice Cream Social September 8th at 6PM to hear the stories from 2010 nationals and get more information about 2011 Nationals.

Want to Take your TKD to a New Level?

An inherent aspect of Taekwondo is to push ourselves to do more than your average Joe, and we also recognize that those who get the most out of their experience in TKD (and life) put the most in to it.  Preparing for tournaments will take the advantages of Taekwondo to a new level.

Taekwondo offers us an exciting opportunity to compete at the national level just by showing up, but "showing up" has to start now.

There will be a meeting for anyone (parents, guardians, family members and students) who have any interest in competing at the national competitions this summer, AND any other tournaments coming up this spring.  The meeting is Wednesday January 13th at 6PM.  All belts and ages are encouraged.  We will discuss the tournaments, the qualifying tournaments, fundraising, workouts and travel as well as address any concerns and questions.

These tournaments are a great opportunity for any interested martial artist to participate in one of the worlds largest sporting events.  This is not just an opportunity for those who believe they are superstars in Taekwondo but it really is for anyone who is willing to dedicate themselves to accomplishing a goal.  Ages 6 and up Yellow through black belts are welcome.

USA Taekwondo will host these National events for 2010 in Orlando, FL June 29-July4.

Please plan to attend the meeting or call Mrs. Rosbarsky to let her know you are interested.

Congratulations MTC National Team / Preparations for 2010 Nationals begin at Ice Cream Social

This year a very small team made up of just 3 athletes traveled to Austin Texas for the 2009 USA Taekwondo Junior Olympics and Senior Nationals. Dylan Ardiana, Abbey Ardiana and Austin James all came home with Gold Medals.
Austin and Dylan both fought in the "Grassroots" Elite Open Division which you do not need to qualify to compete in, and they both won their respective sparring divisions. While Abbey qualified for both the 14-17 year old and 18-32 year old divisions. After losing her first fight in the Junior Division, she went on to win 4 fights to become the National Champion in the Women's Feather Weight Division. Becoming a National Champion from Montana has not been achieved by any Montanan in 12 years.
We congratulate you, Abbey, and are excited to see where your path will now take you. You are poised to accomplish all you set out to do, and we offer you our unwavering support.
We encourage all students and parents with any interest in Taekwondo Competition to join us at the Ice Cream Social August 5th at 6PM to begin planning for next year. This level of competition is a true enhancement to any Martial Arts Path.

Plan Your Spring Tournament Season

Planning Ahead for a Good Tournament Experience

We hosted the Spring FUN Tournament at MTC to prepare our students and their parents for what to expect in the upcoming tournament season. The things we learned include:

  1. Tournaments can be challenging, rewarding and FUN.
  2. Long days are to be expected, so plan ahead with books, activities and snacks.
  3. Secure gear to use in advance. (Some items may need to be ordered so place orders 2 weeks in advance.)

Mostly, we learned that a little preparation (knowing your Poomse well, attending Poomse and Sparring Classes, and knowing what to expect) will provide us the best chance of a good experience.

Great Tournament Opportunities

The tournaments we are excited to support coming up include: Bozeman--March 28th, Billings--April 18th, Livingston--April 25th and Great Falls--May 9th.

There will also be a Regional Qualifier in Colorado Springs on May 16th and the UC Open in Berkeley on May 30th.

When registration forms and other information are available for these events, they will be taced to the bulletin board.

Junior and Senior National Teams from MTC

In July, interested and committed athletes from MTC will compete at Junior and Senior Nationals. (These events are open to all students age 6 and up over yellow belt. Participating in these tournaments is an incredibly enriching and rewarding experience.)

If you are one of these interested and committed folks, you will need to submit a signed statement by March 11th stating you will be training and traveling to this event.

from the desk of Mrs. Rosbarsky

Committed to Tournaments?

We asked for Commitment Letters for Junior and Senior Nationals by February 27th (we have not received any yet).

For those planning to go to any Tournaments outside of Montana this Spring or Summer, we ask that letters be turned in by the March 11th Booster Club Meeting.

With these letters we can plan, without them we may not plan to go to any tournaments outside Montana this year.

Want to Take your TKD to a New Level?

Every MTC student should consider the option of competing in a large tournament like Junior Olympics or Senior Nationals, and it is wise to begin preparations early. After all there are physical, mental and financial preparations to take care of. Competing at qualifying events and other tournaments for preparations should happen throughout the spring, and fundraising to defray the costs are best started in early spring.

There will be a meeting for anyone (parents, guardians, family members and students) who have even the slightest interest in competing at the national competitions this July, AND any other tournaments coming up this spring. The meeting is Wednesday January 14th at 6pm. All belts and ages are encouraged. We will discuss the tournaments, the qualifying tournaments, fundraising, workouts and travel as well as address any concerns and questions.

These tournaments are a great opportunity for any interested martial artist to participate in one of the worlds largest sporting events. this is not just an opportunity for those who believe they are superstars in Taekwondo, but it really is for anyone who is willing to dedicated themselves to accomplishing a task. Ages 6 and up, Yellow through Black Belts are welcome.

USA Taekwondo will host the National events for 2009 in Austin, TX June 30th-July 5th.

Please plan to attend the meeting or call Mrs. Rosbarsky to let her know you are interested.
