Some MTC students are gearing up for some sizable challenges.
Currently 2 students are committed to compete at Junior and Senior Nationals in Detroit this summer. Hunter Paulson will compete in the 8-9 year old division at the Junior Olympics. (Abbey Ardianna, Dylon Ardianna)

We are aware there are others interested in competing at Nationals, however, we have not received notice from those people of their intentions. If you are one of these people, please let us know of you intentions ASAP.

Tournament Readiness
This month the Spring Tournament Season gets underway with the Great Falls Tournament on April 12th. Followed by Livingston on May 3rd. Our own USAT State Qualifier on May 17th and tentatively a State Tournament in Bozeman May 31st. In addition to these dates, we will have athletes traveling to Michigan July 1st-6th for Junior Olympics and Senior Nationals.
Being ready for a tournament requires preparation on several levels. Any kind of competition requires physical, mental and emotional readiness. All of these areas will be covered by diligent class time preparation and utilizing other resources available to our students such as the Poomse DVDs. For Taekwondo Tournaments, it is also wise to have pre-registered for tournaments and purchased any necessary gear well in advance.
Everything that is necessary to be fully prepared for tournament season is available at MTC. We are always available to help you determine what you will require for tournament readiness. We stock most gear items, but there are some things that may require a weeks advance ordering.

Summer Camp at MTC
We will be doubling the fun of last year's TKD day camp with 2 weeks of camp June 16th-20th and 23rd-27th. This day camp for kids ages 7-12 will be held Monday through Friday 9am-3pm.
These 10 days will include Taekwondo instruction, arts and crafts, lots of games and some fun in the sun at a local water park.
The camp is for all belt levels and each participant has the opportunity to accelerate their testing timeline. Meaning if campers put diligent effort into their time at camp, they can receive their next belt level at the completion of camp (they won't have to wait for the next regularly scheduled test). This camp will be open to all, not just current MTC students and space is limited.
The cost of camp will be $195 for one week or $375 for both weeks with Early Bird registrants receiving a $20 discount for registration before May 15th.
All instruction, materials, belt testing fee and water park entrance fee are included in the cost of camp. Parents must provide a refillable water bottle, sack lunch ($ for lunch at the water park will also be the parents responsibility) and sunscreen on a daily basis.

Remember this is a great time to use Booster Club Funds earned. To use money from your Booster Club account please submit a form located on he front counter in the Blue Booster Club folder.

Referee Certification Coming to Montana
Providing that the state has at least 15 people sign up by April 15th, there will be a Referee Certification for Montana Black Belts in Livingston in conjunction with the tournament the weekend of May 3rd.
In addition to this being a great way to be fully acquainted with the current officiating rules this is also a perfect way to give back and be a part of the greater Taekwondo Community in the state of Montana and the nation. We encourage ALL of our Black Belts (and current Black Belt Candidates) to email Mr. Williams at tkd@LIVMARTIALARTS.com to let him know you will participate. In addition, those candidates who must fill volunteerism hours.....this, along with a pledge to utilize the training in the future, will be sufficient to fill those hours.

The Fruit Sale is Back
April 1st marks the return of the Annual MTC Booster Club Fruit Sale. This much anticipated sale had a 1 year hiatus due to the bad year for citrus in the US in 2007. So some of you may ask, "What is so great about this fruit sale?" Well, the fruit for one thing has consistently been stellar, the price is comparable to grocery store prices, and it is a great fundraiser for any and all Missoula Taekwondo Center Students.
First, a little information about the Booster Club in general. The MTC Booster Club is organized to help all MTC students achieve their goals by providing support and fundraising opportunities for students at MTC. Interested students can participate in any number of events and fundraisers to earn money that will be held in their personal Booster Club account and may be used for anything Taekwondo related (except tuition) including testing, camps, tournaments, seminars, gear and travel to out of state tournaments.
The sale includes cases and 1/2 cases of Fancy Oranges, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Red Delicious Apples and Granny Smith Apples.
The Fruit Sale selling period will be April 1st-14th. Orders must be turned in by April 14th. All orders must be prepaid to aid in the distribution of fruit upon arrival as well as ease of precessing for the wonderful Booster Club Treasurer PJ Hanson.
The sales price of the grapefruit and oranges is $35/case and $18/ half case, apples will be $50/case and $28/half case. Students profit will be about 40% on grapefruit and oranges and about 35% on apples.
Planned delivery of the fruit will occur on or around April 24th. The Booster Club is looking for volunteers to sort the fruit when it arrives. If you are interested in helping, purchasing or selling, please see Mrs. Rosbarsky.
