10 Years-How Far We Have Come

As of today we have been open 10 years!
It has been such a tremendous journey.  We have grown to have over 200% more mat space and no longer solely occupy our humble Quonset hut, grown over 500% in number of students, and brought our own 2 children into our big, beautiful TKD family.  We have both given up other jobs and now live our crazy Taekwondo life full time (not that It wasn't full time even when we were working other jobs).
We have loved, laughed, worked, cried and Taekwondoed with thousands of you over this decade and are so grateful for the times we have shared.  Our lives are immeasurably full and rich because you choose to put in the effort to make Taekwwondo, and us, part of your lives.  We We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the opportunity to influence the direction your life paths have taken.  We feel honored to spend our lives doing what we love with all of you.

We would like to give a very special thanks to a number of students who have been with us our entire existence and are so grateful for the dedication that they show to Missoula Taekwondo Center and for making the martial arts a priority in their life journey.  Thank you Black Belts.

We hope that we will have many years of sweating, laughing and learning on the mat with our current students and that 10 years from now we can look back on our journey shared and find that many of the faces here in 2022 are here today.

Thank you all!

We would love for you to write your getting started story.  Please write it down and drop it in the slot or post it on Facebook.  We want to hear why you started, why you stayed and why you may have almost quit.

The Spring Tournments Are Coming Up

The first tournament of the season will be in Billings on April 14th.  This tournament is the only one in Montana our Grand Master will be attending, for that reason alone we recommend making the trip.  They will also have matted rings and electronic scoring this year.

The next tournament will be in Livingston on April 28.  This is hosted by Master Dan Williams and has always been a great tournament for new competitors and also for experienced athletes.

Then we will be traveling to Great Falls on May 19th for Master Miranti's tournament--always an exciting, high energy tournament.

Finally we will be co-hosting the State Championships in Missoula.  We are 98.2% certain this event will be at the RAM Activity Center on June 9th.  We will keep your posted!

Fun Tournament - February 11th

Tournaments can be fun, rewarding and life enriching events if you go into them with a basic knowledge of what to expect and are surrounded by supportive "family" members.  We want our students to have every reasons to participate in upcoming tournaments.

With this FUN tournament our students will find out what they can expect at future tournaments and reap the benefits to be had by joining the greater Taekwondo Community in Montanan and the rest of the world.  Parents sometimes understandably, wish for their children to hold back from competition until they earn a higher belt, however when a student shows interest, we recommend engaging them at that point. Individuals are placed in groups of their approximate age, height, weight and skill level, making white belt the best time to try a tournament.  This year we are also using this opportunity to develop the logistics of tournament operations.  We are encouraging every family to volunteer an hour or 2 to learn a new skill or share one you  know you already possess, contribute to the group and feel proud of your efforts that will make a FUN successful event.  A $5 per volunteer hour credit is offered off you registration.  Offered to Black and Red Belts first then this option will be offered to all MTC students.  Up to $10 off per colored belt competitor and up to $25 per black or red belt volunteer.

The cost is $25 for 1 or 2 events.  Spectators are FREE.  All 1st-3rd place finishers will be awarded medals.  Please register by Friday February 10th to aid in Tournament day fluidity.  Registrations may be dropped in the payment box or given to Mrs. Rosbarsky.

Competition start is staggered White and Yellow Belts -9:45, Green - Black Belts Competitors--12pm.

Please see the registration form for additional information or ask at the front desk.

Stop By the Snack Bar

Our youngest athletes who will be traveling to Dallas for Junior Olympics this year have put together (with the help of Ms. Annie Graham) a healthy snack bar at the TKD school where you can get your after school snack or a hot cup of coffee to make your afternoon at TKD an even greater treat. So skip the mad rush to find your kids a snack before TKD and pick one up at the dojang and help these young athletes offset their pricey trip to Nationals.
